The Amber dream is like a Martini, but with a little extra flair… And with Chartreuse… And with orange bitters… Ok, it’s nothing like a martini, but it’s definitely worth checking out.

What is an Amber Dream?

The Amber dream cocktail is a Gin based cocktail made with yellow chartreuse, dry vermouth, and a dash of orange bitter.

History of the Amber Dream cocktail

Dale DeGroff claims the drink dates from 1935, when it was published in O. Blunier’s Barkeeper’s Golden Book. Some wrongly list this as an alternative name for the Bijou, which uses Green Chartreuse and sweet vermouth. This one uses yellow chartreuse, dry vermouth, and varied proportions.

What Glass is an Amber Dream Served In?

The Amber Dream is typically served in a martini glass or a coupe glass or a Nick and Nora glass. I have also seen it served in a lowball glass but I wouldn’t recommend it as it takes away from the beautiful golden glow.

What are the best spirits for an Amber Dream?

We recommend using Beefeater’s Gin and Dolin dry vermouth. For your Yellow Chartreuse, we recommend, well… Yellow Chartreuse. Angastoras makes an orange bitter and that’s the one we typically go for, but you can try whichever orange bitters you like.
