Bee’s Knees Cocktail Recipe (Will Give You a Buzz)

Itโ€™s โ€œawesome,โ€ itโ€™s โ€œlit,โ€ itโ€™s โ€œthe Beeโ€™s Kneesโ€! Iโ€™m sure even your grandpa wouldnโ€™t be able to tell you what the knee of a bee has to do with something being great. Do bees even have knees? Anyway, I still find myself using the expression every now and then, albeit satirically but still.

The Beeโ€™s Knees is a prohibition-era cocktail that smells lovely and tastes sweet. Youโ€™ll need your shaker, a jigger, a Hawthorne strainer, and a fine mesh strainer for this one so bust out the oleโ€™ cocktail kit. So letโ€™s get right into this Beeโ€™s Knees Cocktail Recipe.

Some Things To Note

Honey is wonderful in drinks, but at full strength, it is difficult to use. A practical way of preparing honey for use in drinks is to turn it into a thinner syrup, similar to simple syrup. To do so, combine 1 part honey with 1 part warm water and stir until all the honey is dissolved. Store in the fridge for 2 weeks. We recommend this method when making this Beeโ€™s Knees Cocktail Recipe.

When choosing which gin to use, we at Cocktail Hammer are particularly fond of using Plymouth Gin as the base spirit. Click here to get your Plymouth gin ASAP.

Notes

  • Honey has a strong presence in drinks when used as a sweetener, so itโ€™s a good idea to choose mild honey, like clover blossom, over a strong flavor like buckwheat. I always look for a local producer; it helps with my wifeโ€™s allergies.โ€ -Dale Degroff.
