Who created the Prestige Cocktail?

Dale Degroff, commonly known as “The King of Cocktails,” came up with this unique Daiquiri riff. “ Dale DeGroff is credited with reinventing the bartender industry in the 1990s at the Rainbow Room, where he was the first to resurrect excellent 19th century classic cocktails prepared with basic fresh ingredients, igniting a cocktail revival that continues to this day.

Among his many accolades are two James Beard Awards, the TOC Lifetime Achievement Award, and Wine Enthusiast’s 2018 Cocktail Legend Award.” Take one to get you in the mood for a tropical vacation; it goes best with sunlight and palm trees!

Ingredients

  • 1 ounces Bacardi Reserva Ocho Rum

  • .25 ounces Martini and Rossi dry vermouth

  • .75 ounces John D. Taylor’s velvet falernum

  • .25 ounces Lime juice

  • 1 ounces Pineapple juice

  • Pineapple wedge for garnish

  • Thin lime wheel for garnish

Directions

  • Shake all the ingredients (except the garnish) with ice and strain into a double old fashioned glass.
  • Garnish with the pineapple wedge and lime wheel.
